Lead/ Senior Lead, New Ventures

About New Ventures

The New Ventures division identifies opportunities for new business creation in Singapore and enables such opportunities through strategic co-investments with qualified EDB clients, with the aim of developing new revenue streams or business units anchored in Singapore. 

The division collaborates with EDB’s business units to scout and identify venture seeding opportunities from large local enterprises (LLE) and multi-national (MNC) clients of EDB. Each project team within New Ventures will drive the end-to-end process including deal origination, due diligence, structuring, investment closing and value creation post investment.  

We are looking for a Lead/ Senior Lead to support the identification and evaluation of opportunities, conduct necessary due diligence, investment structuring and execution of deals. This candidate must have strong financial analysis and modelling capabilities with prior investment transaction experience to complement and support the existing team in project delivery. 

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Conduct in-depth, comprehensive quantitative and qualitative review of prospective ventures in support of deal origination and due diligence efforts – include aspects of financial, commercial, technical and management assessments
  • Build financial models (include valuation and returns models) for target ventures
  • Prepare the necessary documents and presentations for review and final investment approval by senior management
  • Keep abreast of market trends and developments to assess for potential investment opportunities through network of venture capitalists, entrepreneurs and businesses
  • Support team members in day-to-day client relationship maintenance, as well as in other engagements

To meet the challenges of this role, you should have/be:

  • At least 2 years of relevant work experience, with exposure in venture capital, private equity, corporate finance, M&A or investment banking
  • Prior investment transactions experience or start-up experience would be advantageous
  • Background in finance, business or accounting
  • Strong financial modelling and analysis skills
  • Demonstrate initiative, resourcefulness, and good organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Be a strong team player
