About Corporate Planning and Research & Statistics Unit Divisions

EDB is looking for a data analyst to uncover new insights from internal and third-party data sources. While EDB currently works extensively with traditional economic statistics, we believe there is potential to supplement this with higher-frequency and more granular data, to better support policy formulation and operations. Our data analytics applications focus on industry health sensing, organisational efficiency and customer intelligence.

In this role, you will be collaborating internally across different functions at EDB, as well as partnering other government agencies and outsourced partners. You will focus on actionable outcomes, not just research papers or presentations – this means that your output must support industry interventions, or influence strategy and policy formulation, to enable EDB to become more data-driven in its decision-making. You also will be closely supporting our central executive management by using data to address corporate issues/priorities.

As Lead / Senior Lead, you will be responsible for:

  • Partnering various stakeholders in EDB, from management to industry cluster officers, to initiate, scope out, conduct and see through data analytics projects to implementation
  • Identifying opportunities where data analytics can make a positive impact, educating the organisation, and building internal capabilities
  • Working with engineers from the IT department to support business intelligence and decision automation design efforts, as well as to enhance EDB’s overall data architecture

To meet the requirements of this role, the applicant must have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science or Computer Engineering (related science or quantitative disciplines may also be considered)
  • 2-5 years working experience in a hands-on data analysis/forecasting role
  • Experience with advanced analytics techniques, e.g. developing sophisticated models using statistical, mathematical or machine learning techniques
  • The ability to clean, manipulate, analyse, model and visualise large data sets using standard tools and technologies
  • Excellent writing and verbal skills, and be able to effectively communicate/present the key findings of an analysis to a non-technical audience
  • A Singaporean citizenship

The following would also be highly desirable in an applicant:

  • Experience in developing supervised or unsupervised machine learning algorithms, or statistically robust experimental design
  • Programming in R or Python
  • Highly logical, systematic, and with strong attention to detail
  • Independent, self-motivated, inquisitive and resourceful in solving problems

We regret that only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
