Manager/Assistant Director (Policy Strategy)

Responsibilities

As Manager/Assistant Director (Policy Strategy), you will be part of a dynamic team that oversees the strategic planning process and undertakes strategic reviews to help the Ministry achieve its objectives of creating an endearing and engaged home for our people. Specifically, you will be part of a team responsible for executing strategic planning for MND. This involves:

  • Identifying and analysing future trends and strategic issues in the local and international environment, developing strategies and framing policy responses;
  • Cascading strategic directions and garnering buy-in from key stakeholders;
  • Fostering collaboration across MND divisions and agencies in developing forward-looking programmes and initiatives to meet desired goals; and
  • Organising and executing key MND events and projects as part of the strategic planning process, and ensuring outcomes contribute to the organization's larger objectives.

Requirements

  • A Degree in any discipline;
  • Strong analytical skills, able to frame and translate ideas into practical actions;
  • Excellent written and oral communication;
  • Good understanding of organisational dynamics and able to sense stakeholder priorities or concerns from multiple perspectives
  • Proficiency in using soft influence and finding common ground among stakeholders to achieve consensus
  • Domain knowledge of the Built Environment (e.g. physical planning, housing policies, built and natural environment, construction and real estate markets) would be a strong advantage;
  • Good interpersonal skills to network across boundaries and seniority; and
  • Applicants with at least 5-8 years of working experience preferred.

Internships

The MND Internship Programme offers students who are interested in a career in MND and in the Civil Service, an enriching opportunity to discover your potential.

In the ten-to-twelve week internship at MNDHQ, you will be attached to one of MND's core functions, depending on your interest. Whichever path you choose, expect to realise your leadership potential in a dynamic environment where you will grow personally and professionally. More importantly, through the varied and challenging assignments, you will have a better understanding of MND's operations as well as gain greater insights into public policy-making.
