We are living in interesting times, to say the least. Indeed, Covid-19 has impacted the lives of millions of people around the world with such brute force that recovery may take months, or even years.

For those of you who have recently graduated and looking for a job, the road ahead will be a very bumpy one, no question about it. There is an oversupply of talent in the job market these days mainly because of retrenchments, slowdowns in hiring, as well as graduates entering the workforce. In essence, there are more people competing for that one job on offer than previous years.

However, as challenging as it may be, this is not the time to give up. Getting prepared for the long haul is the least that a jobseeker can do. Stay physically fit, network extensively and keep your mind healthy by engaging in courses and upskilling opportunities. Always remember to look on the bright side!

Interestingly, I was seeking employment opportunities not too long ago and my family's support kept me motivated and positive. The key idea is obviously to keep going despite the circumstances.

To help you do that, we've put together a series of guides to help fresh school leavers seek employment in such uncertain times. Learn about the harsh truths of landing your first job, discover alternative industries that look set to thrive beyond the pandemic and get some tips on how to ace that video interview.

And as always, we've compiled stories from people who have gone on to embark on a successful career with their respective organisations. They were given an opportunity and took full advantage of it. Here's hoping that you can get yours sooner, rather than later.
